Attributes of Outdoor Statues in Archaic Greece

The initial freestanding statuary was developed by the Archaic Greeks, a recognized success since until then the sole carvings in existence were reliefs cut into walls and columns. Statues figure Most of these freestanding sculptures were what is known as kouros figures, statues of young, attractive male or female (kore) Greeks. Representing beauty to the Greeks, the kouroi were made to look rigid and commonly had foot forward; the males were vigorous, robust, and naked.

The kouroi became life-sized starting in 650 BC. A substantial time of modification for the Greeks, the Archaic period helped bring about more forms of government, expressions of art, and a greater comprehension of people and cultures outside of Greece.

And yet these disagreements did not prohibit the expansion of the Greek civilization. {
